Madrid 2020. The Hunger Games.

Después de más de un mes sin escribir, hay muchas cosas de las que tengo que hablar... Pero ya que mañana se decide quién se lleva los JJOO de 2020, voy a hablar sobre eso.

Esto es del New York Times de hoy:

Until early summer, Madrid was thought to be lagging behind the other bids, given Spain’s recession-battered economy and high unemployment rate that is 26.3 percent over all and more than 50 percent for young people; a government corruption scandal; and a poor record on doping.

But I.O.C. delegates have said that Madrid’s bid might have been resuscitated in a July presentation by Crown Prince Felipe, a former Olympian. Madrid has emphasized that the 2020 Games could help reduce unemployment in Spain; that after the city’s failed bids for the 2012 and 2016 Summer Games, 80 percent of its competition sites are built; and that it will need an infrastructure budget of only $1.9 billion, compared with $19 billion for Istanbul.

También dicen esto:
Polls have also shown that popular support in Tokyo is somewhat lower than in Istanbul and Madrid.

Puede ser una opinión mía, pero yo creo que en general la sociedad española está bastante en contra de la candidatura de Madrid y bastante harta de que los políticos nos toquen los cojones (con perdón):

"Por supuesto que hay dinero para pagar Madrid 2020"

En fin, habrá que ver. El problema es que Estambul, con todo lo que ha pasado en Turquía, tampoco parece un buen candidato...
